A Weekend Arrival for Our Local Soldiers
We now have a better idea of when our local soldiers will be coming home from their mission in Egypt.

Sources tell WGIL that the 2nd Battalion, 123rd Field Artillery are officially back in the United States, and that Charlie Battery, representing soldiers from the Galesburg and Monmouth areas, will be back in town Saturday morning.

Family members tell us that they're asking anyone who wants to help welcome the soldiers home should line Henderson Street Saturday by 9:00 a.m., and that the soldiers are expected back in town around 10:00 a.m.. Several businesses along the route have already posted "welcome home" signs, and just last weekend, as we reported, family members of the soldiers spruced up the National Guard Readiness Center in town in preparation.

The Illinois Army National Guard has not responded to requests for comment regarding the troops' arrival.

At the same time of Charlie Battery's welcome home, a five mile required fitness walk is being held by members of the 444th Chemical Company, also based in Galesburg, covering a route that will see the soldiers stop at both the American Legion and VFW posts.

That walk is to start at 9:00 a.m. and end at the VFW no later than 10:30 a.m.
