Rutherford Tours Flooded Areas of Southern IL
MARION, Ill. (AP) -- Homeowners and business owners who have property damage from recent flooding may be eligible for low-interest state loans.

Treasurer Dan Rutherford discussed the loan program Tuesday during a tour of affected areas in southern Illinois. He says money will be made available for people who are left to clean up what Mother Nature left behind.

The Disaster Recovery Program through the state will provide up to $500 million in low-interest loans.

But WSIU Radio reports that Rutherford said he's willing to re-evaluate that number if totals go higher.

Rutherford says he won't let the current limit stop the state from helping residents in southern Illinois who've been flooded.
