New Construction Manager for Courthouse Project
A construction company already working for Knox County will take over as project manager for the renovation at the courthouse.

The county building committee Tuesday night approved the hiring of Hein Construction's Donnie Gladfelter to be construction manager for the renovation.

Gladfeltor is just finishing up as project manager for the remodeling at the Knox County Nursing Home, in which Director Kathy Kopsack says he has been very helpful.

"Donnie was there to represent our interests whether it was [subcontractors] maybe trying to cut corners, or the architect trying to cut corners. You know I've been through construction projects before but I have no experience in what's... I know if something is dusted but I don't know if it is built right, and I think that our facility, he's probably saved us money."

Last month the building committee voted to stop courthouse renovations due to the concern of the growing cost of mold, asbestos, and radon remediation.

Not long after that, Johnson Building Systems resigned as project manager, despite the fact the full board reversed that vote last month as well.
