Congressman More than Pleased with News of bin Laden's Death
UPDATED 12:54pm 5/2/11 One local lawmaker is reacting with joy to the news that terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden is dead.

18th District Republican Aaron Schock issued a statement not long after President Obama addressed the nation last night.

The Peoria Congressman whose district covers part of Knox County says the news of bin Laden's death is, "exhilarating."

Schock says, "This is a remarkable victory for our country and those families impacted by the heinous acts of terrorism he oversaw on 9/11 and around the world."

Schock also quoted late President Ronald Regan, whom is believed to have told terrorists "You can run, but you can't hide."

Schock says the death is also a great victory for our national security efforts, and praises Obama on a job well done.

17th District Congressman Bobby Schilling made a public statement Monday morning, after our deadline, but also praised the operation.
