Charlie Battery Unit Returns Home!
After serving a year of duty in Egypt members of the Battery C, 2nd Battalion 123rd Field Artillery Unit are now resting at home.

The soldiers were welcomed home Saturday at the National Guard Readiness Center in Galesburg.

Private Devon Austin tells WGIL, although it was a dreary day weather wise, the support from family and friends out shined the rain clouds.

"At the beginning of deployment it took awhile, but then it went by faster, but then when we got back into the states it was so much better here, the air was cleaner, it was nice to step on grass that didn't feel like tarp, and just coming home evening though it's raining it still feels sunny to me."

Soldiers were deployed in Egypt on the Multinational Force and Observers Mission.
To the relief of family and friends every soldier returned safely home says Staff Sergeant Sean Tedrick.

"Egypt is a pretty safe mission, a lot of people aren't aware that there's even U.S. Troops there, but we've been there since 1982 observing the peace treaty between Egypt and Israel."

The troops were escorted from Orion to Galesburg by members of the Patriot Guard despite pouring rain and chilly temperatures at times.

Units in the 123rd Field Artillery Regiment from Milon and Macomb were also welcomed home in separate ceremonies Saturday as well.
