Another New Principal Needed in Knoxville Schools
Another administrator in a school district in Knox County is leaving their post to go out of the county.

The Knoxville School Board Monday night voted to accept the resignation of Junior High School principal Chris Lensing at the end of the school year.

Lensing has been with the district for the last several years, and officials say he'll become an elementary school principal in the Moline school district.

Lensing told the board he's learned a lot under first-year Superintendent Stephen Wilder, but that the move to Moline was a decision he felt he had to make.

Wilder told the board he appreciates Lensing's service, and understands him having to leave, but the departure is "bittersweet" nonetheless.

District documents indicate Lensing makes nearly $80,000 in salary and benefits.

A search for Lensing's replacement begins immediately.

The board Monday night also voted to hire Jay Melton as the new Knoxville High School Assistant Principal and Activities Director. Melton, who currently works in the Stark County School District, will replace Chad Bahnks, who is moving up to become head high school principal.

Previously, Bahnks' wife Tara was hired to replace Larry Eastin as principal of Mabel Woolsey Elementary School.
