Report: Illinois Pledging More to Keep Businesses
CHICAGO (AP) -- Illinois has pledged more than $230 million to 27 companies so far this year in an effort to keep those businesses in the state.

That's according to a report Wednesday in the Chicago Tribune.

The Tribune says only six of the 27 companies were identified on a list the newspaper got from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. Department spokeswoman Marcelyn Love says the other companies weren't named because of nondisclosure agreements or because the incentive deals haven't been finalized or announced yet.

In 2010, Illinois pledged about $236 million in similar programs to 53 companies.

This year's total includes an agreement with Motorola Mobility to keep its headquarters in Libertyville in exchange for more than $117 million in incentives.
