Military Won't Lose Focus After bin Laden's Death
(IRN)-The Illinois National Guard says it's pleased Osama bin Laden is no longer a threat, but it's still mindful of the mission overseas.

The guard has sent roughly 19,000 soldiers to the Middle East since 2001, more than 30 of whom lost their lives. Guard spokesman Lt. Dutch Grove says bin Laden's death doesn't mean the war is over, and there's still a lot of work to do.

"To say that we're vindicated, or that we feel excited or that the mission is accomplished because Osama bin Laden is dead, that's not the case," says Grove. "We still have a mission, and we need to carry on with that mission."

Grove says the mission overseas continues, even though the bin Laden-financed attacks on Sept. 11, 2001 prompted the wars in the first place. U.S. forces shot and killed bin Laden early Monday morning at a compound in Pakistan. He was buried at sea.
