California Man Admits Shipping Self 82 Pounds of Pot
SOUTH ELGIN, Ill. (AP) _ A California man has admitted shipping himself 82 pounds of marijuana.

Seventy year old Walter Kwiatek of Cloverdale, Calif., pleaded guilty Monday to possession of more than 5,000 grams of marijuana. His sentencing is scheduled for July 18.

Police in South Elgin got a tip in December about a suspicious container shipped to a freight and delivery company in Illinois.

The (Arlington Heights) Daily Herald reports that officers seized the marijuana and an undisclosed amount of cash. Kwiatek was arrested later.

Kwiatek has no criminal history and is a U.S. Navy veteran. He could get up to 30 years in prison.

Assistant State's Attorney Kelly Orland says the drugs had an estimated street value of $470,000.
