| Two Arrested for Tuesday Shooting |
Galesburg police are investigating an case in which multiple gun shots were fired Tuesday evening.
Just before nine o'clock, police responded to 377 Monmouth Boulevard for a report of shots fired.
At the time, a witness told police he was walking in the area of South Academy and West South Streets when saw three black males running toward him yelling to one another.
The witness told police he heard one of the men say, "Dude there are cops everywhere, you're gonna have to get rid of it," and then a man threw an object behind a nearby fence.
Police recovered a hand gun about five feet behind the fence soon after. Since then, police have conducted multiple interviews with those present at the home where the shots were heard. According to reports, a sixteen year old male owed money to 22-year old Ricky Noswinger, and the two were involved in an altercation outside the residence.
The teen left but later returned with a group of people and a verbal argument ensued between the group and people already present at home. That is when the alleged shots were fired, though no one was injured.
One of those was 17 year old Dezman Jones of Galesburg who later admitted to police he fired two shots from a gun handed to him by Noswinger. Jones is charged with one count of reckless discharge of a firearm, and Noswinger, who later turned himself in, is faces charges of possession of a weapon by a felon, possession of a firearm without a FOID card, mob action with violence, and aggravated battery. Court dates for the two are not know at this time. |
