Court Reinstates Lawsuit Against School District
URBANA, Ill. (AP) -- An Illinois appellate court has ruled a lawsuit filed against the McLean County School District and administrators accusing them of recommending a school teacher since convicted of child molestation shouldn't have been dismissed.

The Fourth District Appellate Court on Friday ordered the lawsuit back to trial court.
The court found the plaintiffs sufficiently alleged school officials had a duty either to warn Urbana and its students of the danger posed by Jon White, or report the abuse by White to the Department of Children and Family Services.

The Urbana district is seeking $1 million, saying it wanted the money to help cover the $2 million it paid to settle claims filed by nine girls molested there by White after he left McLean County.

White is serving 60 years in prison.
