Peoria Resident Arrested Following Chase Through Canton
A Peoria resident is jailed in Fulton County after giving chase to sheriffs deputies in a vehicle with two children in it.

The Fulton County Sheriffs Department says the incident happened Thursday night, following a traffic stop at 6th and Linn Streets in Canton. They say they determined that 21-year old Jovaughn Freeman was wanted on warrants from Peoria and Cook Counties as well as the state of Indiana, and left the scene after being asked to exit the vehicle.

Deputies and Canton Police, they say, then pursued the vehicle through some Canton Streets, eventually striking a squad car a number of times. Freeman allegedly fled the vehicle on Spruce Street while it was still running and with two infants inside, coming to rest when it crashed again into a squad car.

Freeman was found a short time later, and arrested on charges of Criminal Damage to Property, Child Endangerment, Obstructing Justice, Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, and Reckless Driving.

It's not clear when Freeman's next court date is, but he's believed to still be incarcerated.

The two infants were not injured.
