Budget Setting on City Council Agenda
The Galesburg City Council is getting its wish -- the budget process is starting a full six-months before the budget even would take effect.

Aldermen will hold their first work session of the new budget planning cycle Monday night. The meeting seems to be pretty straightforward -- officials say it will deal with the budget planning calendar the city uses every year.

But, even though aldermen had months to deal with the budget last year, they still had to work to close a potential $3.5 million gap. They ended up doing that through, among other things, once again leaving some city positions unfilled.

The fiscal year for Galesburg is the same as the calendar year.

The City Council work session is Monday at 5:30pm.
