Sabra Hummus to Remain in DePaul Cafeteria Menus
CHICAGO (AP) -- After a student referendum failed to get the required votes to remove a brand of hummus from DePaul University cafeterias last week, school officials decided Sabra hummus will continue to be sold on campus.

DePaul's Fair Business Practice Committee announced Monday it found no evidence Strauss Group, the Israel-based co-owner of Sabra, gives direct financial support to the Israeli military.

The non-binding referendum was pushed by Students for Justice in Palestine, and was voted on last week during DePaul's Student Government Association's annual officer election ballot. The students contend Strauss sends money and supplies to units accused of rights abuses.

DePaul's president, the Rev. Dennis Holtschneider, said the university approached
the issue with deliberation and made an informed decision.

Referendum supporters said they are disappointed by the university's decision.
