FIRST ON WGIL: Fundraising Already Working for Knoxville Track
FIRST REPORTED 6:00am 5/24/11 The money is officially about to start coming in for the new sports complex being built in the Knoxville School District.

District-202 board president Bob Bogard told a special school board meeting Monday night that a nice chunk of money has been taken off the top of the $500,000 needed for the track.

Bogard and Superintendent Steven Wilder say that's around $75,000

"We have a person who came forward last week and committed to fund the the concession stand," said Bogard.

"We also have an anonymous donor, potential donors, interested in I think for the press box, so at this point already without really formalizing the fundraising procedure, we've got a couple entities that are interested in helping us out already so that's a huge plus to the district," said Wilder.

Bogard and the board discussed how to best raise money for the spots complex and came up with different sponsorship levels for those who donate $10,000, $5,000, and $1,000, as well as those who contribute lesser amounts.

The board Monday night also approved the aggregate material that will be used on the new all-weather track before rubber is poured. It'll be coming from Guenther Construction, straight from the grading and resurfacing of Interstate 74 between Galesburg and Knoxville.
