High Winds, Tornadoes Reported in Central Illinois
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -- High winds, rain and possible tornadoes have knocked down power lines and damaged at least one home and a number of farm buildings in central Illinois.

St. Anne Fire Chief John Boomsma says firefighters saw a tornado on the ground near the town southeast of Kankakee on Wednesday that damaged one home. No one was injured.

The (Springfield) State Journal-Register reported power poles down along Illinois 104 between the town of Auburn and Interstate 55. Illinois 104 is closed.

In Piatt County in eastern Illinois, emergency management coordinator Jim Donaldson says two apparent tornadoes were reported near the communities of Cerro Gordo and Pierson. The only reported damage was a toppled grain bin.

The National Weather Service says tornado watches continue through afternoon for much of central Illinois.
