No Problems Anticipated for New County Construction Manager
After approving a new construction manager earlier this month, members of the Knox County Board Building Committee had the chance to meet with the man Monday night.

Donnie Gladfelter of Hein Construction has been project manager at the nearly completed Knox County Nursing Home remodel, and could take over the county courthouse renovations.

Committee members have already approved Gladfelter but the full board will make a final decision at Wednesday regular board meeting.

County Board Chairman Greg Bacon tells WGIL, with approval from the board, it will take a little time for Gladfelter to get settled.

"Once the full board approves him, he'll start reading into the [blueprints] and everything that went on before, and once he's comfortable with it in three weeks or a month, or however long it takes him to get comfortable with it, he'll come back and tell us what he thinks and how if he's got to make any changes, which he doesn't know yet,... he just wants to get his hands around the project."

Bacon, however, says he doesn't anticipate any major changes to the renovation plans despite the fact recent tests have showed radon, mold, and asbestos are big problems in the courthouse.

Bacon says the tests came back pretty much as expected and believes money set aside for the work will be sufficient to deal with the problems.
