Early Morning Power Outages
Residents of the north and northeast sides of Galesburg dealt with a power outage that occurred at the height of some early morning storms Wednesday.

An outage map from Ameren Illinois indicated that as many as 15-hundred customers in town were in the dark for a time starting before five a.m. and lasting at least two hours.

Ameren spokesperson Leigh Morris says a transformer went out at the North Seminary Street station in Galesburg, and testing can't be done to determine whether or not the outage was actually weather-related until the severe weather goes away.

Galesburg Police and firefighters converged on the scene, but it's not clear what they would have been looking for.

The storms that provided what weather watcher Larry Anglund told WGIL were 1.85 inches of rain between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, were part of a line of storms that were more potent in central and southern Illinois.

Severe weather remains in the forecast for Wednesday afternoon.
