Firm to Offer Residential Storm Shelters
O'FALLON, Ill. (AP) -- An O'Fallon businessman is hoping to give some peace of mind to Midwesterners rattled by the tornado that struck Lambert-St. Louis International Airport and horrified by the one that devastated Joplin, Mo.

J.R. Yoch, president of Jet Precast Concrete, said he's supplied companies with job site storm shelters for years.

But he's hoping to soon make a residential model that's more compact -- and more affordable -- for residents without basements.

Yoch says the company's standard model is 102 inches long, 80 inches tall and can hold up to about 12 people. It costs $5,400. He says they plan to start making shelters that are about two thirds that size that can hold up to six people that will cost about $3,500-$4,000.

Another model is available to mobile home owners.
