Energy Customers Paying for Effeciency Programs
Ameren Illinois customers are basically paying for the energy efficiency programs the company promote, so they might as well take advantage of them.

That's according to Kenny Blum, Community and Public Relations Supervisor for Ameren Illinois.

"Everybody looks at their bill real in depth, their Ameren Illinois bill, there's a little line item called an EDR, that's an energy delivery rider and it's mandated by the legislators that the utility company will colleget your money, and your paying about a buck a month into these programs, and we collect a little over $10 million from residential, commercial, and industrial customers, and we reward people with an incentive to purchase a compact floresecnt starting at .50 a piece."

Blum says replacing 21 incandescent light bulbs in your home with compact florescents can save a person about $100 per year.
