State Budget Down to the Last Minute in Springfield
It's down to the wire for state lawmakers in Springfield.

State Representative Don Moffitt of the 74th district tells WGIL he regrets he won't be back in the district for Memorial Day activities, but also that lawmakers have waited until the last minute to pass major legislation, like the state budget.

"My concern is that some of these big issues will be voted on without very much opportunity to review them. This is typical of end of session, but I don't like voting on a budget when it hasn't been viewed by the general public, by the press, by all people involved until just moments before it's voted on. I would like to see any of these issues, the legislation presented so there's plenty of time for review by the citizens of Illinois."

Moffitt says two different budget options had been introduced in the House and Senate with budget revenues differing by about a billion dollars.

It's looking like the Senate may come down to the meet the House's estimate, and Moffitt says he just wants to ensure the revenue estimate is as accurate as it can be.
