Blagojevich Spends Third Day on the Stand
(IRN)-We're hearing it from the horse's mouth. Tuesday is Day 3 of testimony from ex-Governor Rod Blagojevich in is political corruption retrial.

Blagojevich tried enlisting the help of road builder Gerald Krozel in leaning on House Speaker Mike Madigan (D-Chicago) to pass a capital bill. "I wanted to put the pressure on the system," Blagojevich testified. Krozel had been an early donor to Blagojevich's run for governor and continued financial support every year, the former governor testified. Blagojevich denies that he was trying to shake down Krozel for a campaign contribution in exchange for a tollway construction bill.

Before lunch Tuesday, the defense objected to government attorneys "making faces" and "distracting the jury." "It's contesting the governor's credibility," said attorney Lauren Kaeseberg. Judge James B. Zagel says he hadn't noticed but would keep an eye on those at the government table.

Meanwhile, the jury pool has gone from 18 to 17. A female juror who was a computer technician for a junior college has been dismissed for unspecified reasons.
