Illinois Walgreen Nurses Vote to Form Union
CHICAGO (AP) -- Nurse practitioners at clinics in Walgreen drug stores in Illinois have voted to form a union. The nurses will be represented by the Illinois Nurses Association.

Tuesday's vote was conducted at the National Labor Relations Board in Chicago. It was attended by representatives from the nurses association, nurse practitioners from Take Care clinics and attorneys and management from Walgreen.

Deerfield-based Walgreen Co. operates 45 Take Care Health Systems clinics in Illinois.

Alice Johnson of the Illinois Nurses Association says the union now will focus on
negotiating a contract with Walgreen and the Take Care clinics.

Heather Helle of Walgreen says the company respects the nurses' decision.
