Touch a Truck Day a Success
Among the many emergency response vehicles that were at the Touch a Truck event, the American Red Cross' aid vehicle many have provided the best opportunity to teach kids about current events.

Don Eudaley, the programs director with the Red Cross, says as young children climbed about the truck Wednesday he was able to relate the purpose of the vehicle to what's happening across the U-S.

"This year like I said, it's especially [important] because of the disasters that's around and most of them have seen it on TV and we talk about the houses," he says, "I say, 'How would you like to be there and not have any food.'
'Oh no.' Then I explain to them you know that's what we do we have trucks out all over."

The Red Cross provides meals to those in disaster stricken areas, when it is called upon for assistance, for instance the flooding along the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers, or the tornado ravaged south.

Hundreds of pre-school aged children visited Lake Story Wednesday for the touch a truck event so they could learn first hand what many of the large vehicles they see in the community do.
