Stolen Traffic Dummy Found in Car Trunk
BETHALTO, Ill. (AP) -- A traffic dummy stolen from a Bethalto squad car has been recovered.

The Telegraph in Alton reports Friday that police in the southern Illinois village found the traffic dummy in the trunk of vehicle. The dummies are put in squad cars along roadsides to deter speeders. Police dress the dummy in sunglasses, a ball cap and police uniform.

The thieves are a group of juveniles and charges won't be filed. The squad car window was broken to get to the traffic dummy. Police say the mannequin is already back in use.

When the dummy first went missing Bethalto police chief Alan Winslow said he couldn't "decide whether to be really mad or just laugh."

Bethalto is about 25 miles northeast of St. Louis.
