Library Director Search Continues
It's back to square one in the search for a new director at the Galesburg Public Library.

The library board had about 19 people apply for the job and whittled it down to eight finalists.

But board President Martin Reichel says it didn't last long.

"Out of those eight, we selected three that would be our top three candidates, to come back for a second interview," Reichel said. "But in the meantime, two of them dropped out for one reason or another, and the third one, which was our top choice, did come for an interview with the full board just not too long ago, apparently for whatever reason, she declined the offer after giving it a lot of serious thought."

Now Riechel says they will be conducting more telephone interviews as the search continues.

Current Director Pam VanKirk will be retiring May 27th, but Riechel says the board won't rush to fill the position because they want to find the right person for the job.
