Accused Armed Home Invader Granted Medical Release from Prison
Two days after turning himself in on a warrant accusing him of home invasion, a Galesburg man was granted a temporary release from prison.

20-year-old Michael G.D. Bicknell was issued a medical furlough by Judge James Stewart in Knox County Circuit Court Wednesday. Bicknell's father agreed to be fully responsible for his son's actions before he's scheduled to return to Knox County Jail next Wednesday by 11 am.

Bicknell was charged Monday with one felony county each of Home Invasion and Residential Burglary. He and 19-year-old Trey Shaquil Martinez allegedly attempted to burglarize a North Academy Street apartment during the overnight hours May first. Galesburg Police say both men were armed, and wore masks.

Police Chief David Christenson says the apartment's owner allegedly shot Bicknell and Martinez, hospitalizing them with non-life threatening injuries. Police say Martinez was arrested Wednesday morning on a warrant charging him with Home Invasion and Residential Burglary.

According to Bicknell's father and public defender Dan O'Brien, he will be undergoing surgery on his right eye for injuries sustained in the incident last week.

When Bicknell returns to prison, he will continue to be held on $500,000 dollars bond. A Bond Reduction Hearing is set for May 21st.
