Free Day Off at Knox College
FIRST REPORTED 6:20am 5/1/12 It might not seem like a big deal to you, but it is to the entire campus of Knox College.

Just a day after the start of the work and school weeks, Tuesday is "Flunk Day" on the Galesburg campus. It's a day the college describes as not having been decided upon until about February, but it built into the academic calendar without students and faculty even knowing about it.

At least, that is, most students and faculty, as the college has said the actual Flunk Day date is kept secret except among a very small committee that organizes activities every year.

Flunk Day has long been in the history of the college unofficially, but is now a part of the formal college landscape.

There are usually games and other activities for students, along with food throughout the day. And while many students say they take part, some say they use the day to catch up on homework or studying.

Normal campus life will return Wednesday, with about a month left to go until commencement.
