City Council Talks Goals Tonight
The Galesburg City Council will continue a discussion Monday night that has been the subject of much criticism in recent months.

Aldermen will hold two work sessions Monday: one of those deals with the city council's list of goals first developed almost a year ago, but re-formulated earlier this year.

City officials have said they'll update the council periodically on the implementation of the council's goals, and the meeting Monday night provides that opportunity.

Some aldermen have criticized the goal-setting process in the past, at least in terms of how long it took to get from formulation to implementation.

With just over six months to go in the calendar and fiscal years, aldermen Monday will also have a work session on the 2013 city budget -- specifically, the city's calendar for budget development, and where departments are in that process.

Aldermen approved a budget last December for the current fiscal year that was said to be balanced, but then they added additional spending, and didn't have enough time last week to deal with funding for Lake Storey Beach among other items.

The Galesburg City Council meets at 5:30 Monday evening inside council chambers at Galesburg City Hall.
