Foreign Language Instructor Collects CSC's Top Honor
Carl Sandburg College's honor for the 2011-2012 Faculty Member of the Year Award goes to a first time nominee and foreign language instructor.

Shanon Dickerson was announced as the award's recipient during last week's commencement ceremony by CSC President Doctor Lori Sundberg.

"Shanon said, upon hearing she had won this award, 'It is truly an honor to receive the Faculty Member of the Year Award,'" Sundberg said of Dickerson. She continued, "As a foreign language instructor, I hope that my classes not only teach my students Spanish, but also encourages them to be global citizens who integrate their classroom experience into their careers."

Some of the students' nomination forms indicated Dickerson is well prepared for class, encouraging, and funny. She now represents the college's nominee for the Illinois Community College Trustees Association's Outstanding Faculty Award.

Jena Linkin was also named the Adjunct Faculty Member of the year. She's been an instructor for the Business and Computing Technology Lab at the Branch Campus in Carthage, and has worked there since 2001.

Former secretary of twenty-plus years Shirley Pritchard was recognized with the 2012 Distinguished Service Award.
