Goals and Budget Plan Outlined to City Council
It's been almost a year since the Galesburg City Council first outlined goals for projects they'd like to see done and ideas implemented, but some aldermen maybe don't see things quite that way.

Aldermen Monday night reviewed a list of 58 different goal areas during a work session, covering areas like economic development and public works, but some wondered if the list was too big.

Like 7th Ward Alderman Jeremy Karlin.

"Obviously we're going to be doing a lot of things all along, a lot of these things are things we do anyway, frankly, it's not anything new or that," Karlin said. "But my point was to try and narrow the focus so we can devote our resources to things we believe matter the most-- and that we can accurately identify them, instead of doing small things with less important issues."

Karlin wondered aloud that since there were so many things listed as important goals, that maybe it would make none of them important.

The goals will be updated to aldermen throughout the year.

Aldermen also learned Monday evening that there are eight work sessions planned between July and November on the budget, with a possible vote in early December, unless aldermen have further last-minute questions.
