Reduction in Bond Denied for Alleged Body Cavity Drug Smuggler
A London Mills woman suspected of trying to smuggle contraband into jail through a body cavity has been denied a reduction in bond.

According to Knox County Circuit Court records, bond will remain at 10-percent of $100,000-dollars for 44-year-old Erin Nelson. Judge James Stewart ordered the bail to stand Monday.

Knox County Sheriffs Deputies accuse Nelson of showing up to the county jail three-and-a-half hours late for a weekend stay last month. They say an illegal substance was present in one of her body cavities. Nelson was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver in a Penal Institution and Possession of Cannabis in a Penal Institution.

Court documents indicate Nelson also waived her right to a Preliminary Hearing Monday through Defense Attorney James Harrell. She's scheduled to be arraigned May 30th at 9:30 am.
