No Decorative Fence for Knoxville Sports Complex
There won't be a more aesthetically pleasing fence-line welcoming Blue Bullets fans into the new outdoor multi-purpose sports complex.

That's because the Knoxville School District is nixing the idea-- as indicated last week by Building Chair Brent Shreeves and Shane Larson-- the Civil Engineer for district.

School board President Bob Bogard had recommended a decorative fence, perhaps a picket fence, to stretch 120 feet across the entrance of the facility. Larson says it's just not worth it.

"You know, it was $2,500 extra just for 120 feet of it," Larson said. "And you're only going to run it about 60 feet south of the ticket booth, and then you're going to drop it back to the chain link anyways. I think for what we're doing, it's going to look pretty nice."

There's been no movement yet on a scoreboard. Superintendent Steve Wilder says G&M Distributors has expressed interest in possibly donating one.

Shreeves says volunteers are continuing to pour concrete at the site. The home sideline of the football field will be re-sodded this week.

Purchased donation bricks have reached around 260, according to Shreeves. He says he expects close to 300 personalized bricks to be placed around the concession stand area during the football season, with room for 1,000. Those can be bought for $100 dollars, $70 of which goes directly towards funding the facility.
