149th Graduating Class Bids Farewell to GHS
Ryan Hickey found his passion in theatre while long snapping for the Galesburg High School football team-- a Top Senior and Principal Scholar, he's challenging his fellow graduates to do the same.

Around three hundred graduating Silver Streaks sat swamped inside the scalding hot GHS Auditorium Sunday afternoon. Hickey, the final of three student speakers, offered one final chilling message that cut through the heat.

"I am so very proud to be among all of you, the 2012 graduating class of Galesburg High School," Hickey said. "As you face the future, remember, find your passion, bring your best, and don't settle."

Hickey says, quote, "Small decisions are made with the head, but big ones are made with the heart." He asked his classmates to be brave as they journey beyond high school.

Sunday marked the 149th Commencement Ceremony for GHS. It was the final for Principal Dr. Tom Chiles-- who's leaving to become the Superintendent of the Lena-Winslow School District in Northwestern Illinois.
