Dental Care for Free Tomorrow
An important health need that the Knox County Health Department can't always address will be Friday.

The Knox County Health Department is holding its second annual free Adult Dental Day at the Carl Sandburg College Annex on East Main Street.

While the Health Department has a dental clinic, primarily children are seen.

The Health Department's Erin Olson tells the WGIL Morning News last year's first-ever dental day turned out to be huge.

"We saw over 140 patients last year," Olson said. "We had over 130 volunteers, which was absolutely amazing-- I think it made the day go so smooth. We had volunteers everywhere you turned."

"327 procedures total last year-- which was amazing. And we did over $37,000 dollars in free dental care last year."

Health Department officials say no appointments are necessary, but lines stretched around the block last year to get into the clinic.

Officials with the Warren County Health Department will be among those assisting in the dental clinic this year.

As a result of the dental day, the health department says there will be no services at their Fremont Street office, except that Environmental Health Staff will be available for emergencies.
