Moon Towers to Utilize Intellihot Product
The Knox County Housing Authority is calling on a local green service to provide them with new commercial-sized water heaters.

The Board of Commissioners Tuesday approved a bid package to install five tank-less water heaters at Moon Towers. They are manufactured by Galesburg-based Intellihot Green Technologies, a tenant of the Sustainable Business Center.

Housing Authority Executive Director Margie Hulick says there's added excitement to using a local maker who prides themselves on energy efficiency.

"I'm kind of excited about this actually," Hulick said. :I think it will be good for us, I think it will be good for everything. The architects thought this type of water heater was going to be the way to go"

Another local entity, J-P Benbow, will be installing the products for just under $65,000-dollars. The money comes from the Housing Authority's Capital Fund.

Also approved Tuesday was an extension with the current dental and vision providers for the Housing Authority's twenty-seven full time employees. The cost is almost $13,500-dollars a year, over $330-dollars more expensive than last year's contract.
