Garage Destroyed by Fire in Knoxville
UPDATED 5:35pm 5/3/12 A fire that caused what seemed to be some explosions in a Knoxville subdivision is out.

Knoxville Fire Chief Jeff Vandemark says crews from Knoxville, Maquon, and Abingdon went to 993 Eiker Drive in the Eiker Acres area around 2:45pm Thursday. He says the garage was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived, so the focus was making sure the fire wouldn't spread more to the house than to a small corner.

While the garage was destroyed by the fire which was out in less than a half-hour, the home sustained some damage, especially to a utility room.

Owner Marty Cecil says he had just finished mowing the lawn and went back inside when he heard several pops, looked out a window, and saw his garage on fire. Cecil and his wife Jackie both say they're glad it was only the garage that was destroyed, and that no one was hurt. Marty Cecil was the only one home at the time.

The official cause has yet to be determined. Cecil says there were a few flammable items in the garage that could have caused the fire.
