Woman Pleads Not Guilty to Drug Charges
A London Mills woman has pleaded not guilty to charges accusing her of bringing drugs to the Knox County Jail last month.

Knox County Circuit Court records indicate 44-year old Erin Nelson pleaded not guilty during an arraignment hearing Wednesday through Public Defender Jim Harrell. Nelson also asked for a trial by jury.

Nelson faces a pair of felony charges including bringing contraband into a penal institution.

Nelson allegedly showed up for a weekend court stay in Knox County Jail in April three-and-a-half hours late, after authorities say they received information that drugs may be brought into the jail that day.

Upon Nelson's arrival, sheriffs department officials say they found cannabis through a body cavity search.

Nelson will next be in court August sixth for a Pre-Trial Conference, with a possible trial happening later that month.
