It's That Time of the Year for IDOT
An IDOT spokesman says it's that time of the year for road work to be in full swing.

Brian Williamson is Community Relations Manager for the Illinois Department of Transportation's District Four-- a collection of twelve area counties including Knox, Henderson, and Fulton Counties. He says there's a vast number of projects being worked on already under IDOT's 'Multi-Year Highway Plan.'

And with the scattered projects, Williamson tells the WGIL Morning News drivers need to be aware.

"It's about that time where things, if not already, will be coming up in the brains of construction," he said. "So we certainly urge people to be aware for our crews and put down those phones and obey the speed limit signs that you see up there. They're up there and they're twenty-four hours a day whenever you see a speed sign in a work zone it's in effect."

Williamson says a new bridge on US 67 has just been finished in Monmouth, but more bridgework is underway north of Macomb. He says too ground is being moved for a future IL-336 in Macomb.

Major projects in the works, he says, include next year beginning the 'flip flopping' of the Interstate-74 and I-155 interchanges outside of Morton.

Williamson says IDOT and the city of Galesburg are still targeting a day at the end of September to open up the West Main Street Overpass.
