Police Arrest Two for String of Graffitis
POSTED 2:20pm 5/7/12 Galesburg Police say they have two people in custody who are suspected of committing nearly two-dozen incidents of graffiti in Galesburg.

Galesburg Police say 25-year olds Joseph Brown and Michael Brackett were each arrested Saturday morning on felony charges of Criminal Defacement of Property.

Police say they were first alerted to the two early Saturday in the area of the South Street underpass after witnesses say they discovered the two allegedly spray-painting the underpass' walls.

Police say officers established a perimeter in the area when Brown and Brackett were believed to be discovered in the 300 block of South Kellogg Street.

A statement says the two smelled like paint and had fresh paint on their hands at the time of their arrest, and were carrying backpacks which had spray paint in it.

Police also say the two claimed that one of the incidents of tagging was theirs, which police then used to link Brown and Brackett to 21 other reported graffiti cases.

Brown and Brackett are being held in the Knox County Jail. Court information on the two is not yet available.
