Man Convicted of Felony Sex Crime
A Galesburg man has been convicted of a felony sex crime.

Knox County Circuit Court records and the State's Attorney's office say 55-year old Larry Smith was convicted last Friday of charges including a Class-X felony count of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child, and a Class-One felony count of Criminal Sexual Assault.

Records indicate Smith was arrested in July of last year for allegedly assaulting a female under the age of 13. Officials say the arrest came after the victim was interviewed by law enforcement about the case at the Knox County Child Advocacy Center in April of 2011.

Assistant State's Attorney Elisa Tanner, who prosecuted the case, says Smith could be sentenced to as much as 60 years in prison on the Class-X felony, and as much as 15 years on the Class-One felony, when he's sentenced July fifth.
