Updated 10:48am 6/17/08

Galesburg residents are being urged to start conserving water now, before they're ordered to. The city has issued a voluntary water conservation order in effect until further notice, due to flooding concerns at the Galesburg water station in Oquawka. A Boil Order IS NOT IN EFFECT.

The City of Galesburg has closed all swimming facilities until further notice in order to help with water conservation efforts.  Those include Lakeside Splashzone, Lake Storey Beach, Hawthorne Pool, and wading Pools at Kiwanis Park, O. N. Custer Park, H. T. Custer Park, and Lincoln Park.

The City of Galesburg and the Knox County Health Department will hold a press conference this afternoon to update residents on the water situation.  It will be broadcast live on AM 1400 WGIL at 3:30pm.  Stay logged on to wgil.com for more information, and stay tuned to WGIL for more details as they become available.
