Boil Order Officially in Effect for Galesburg, Abingdon, East Galesburg, Knoxville, Little York

The City of Galesburg says a boil order that's been issued for all residents and some of the city's water customers is a precaution.  The boil order was issued as of 3:30pm Tuesday, City Public Works Director Larry Cox says, because while the city's pumping station at Oquawka is still pumping some water on backup power, that's mixing with water being pumped in Galesburg.  City and Knox County Health Department Officials say none of that water is contaminated.  The boil order will remain in effect until further notice, and city officials say it's the first time in anyone's memory a city-wide boil order has been issued.  To hear a press conference the City held Tuesday afternoon announcing the boil order, as broadcast live on WGIL, CLICK HERE (mp3 format).
