Wisconsin Man Pleads Guilty to Galesburg-Related Child Porn Case
A Wisconsin man now faces several decades in prison after pleading guilty in connection to an alleged child pornography ring that had ties to Galesburg.

Documents filed in U-S District Court in Western Wisconsin indicate that 37-year old Roger Smith of Hollandale, Wisconsin pleaded guilty June 20th to charges of the sexual exploitation of children.

Smith and 30-year old Carrie Wheaton of Galesburg were indicted by a federal grand jury in late-February after, affidavits indicate, the two allegedly sexually assaulted Wheaton's six-year-old twin girls in her former home on Allens Avenue in Galesburg last November, and also took photographs of the young girls.

The two both admitted to their roles in the alleged assaults. Wheaton claims she gave the girls cough syrup before the attacks, and Smith allegedly sent some of the pictures to a friend over the Internet.

Wisconsin authorities searched Smith's Hollandale home, where cameras and memory cards believed to have the photographs on them were found.

A pre-sentence investigation in Smith's case is due August 8th, with a sentencing hearing set for September 12th. He could face between 15 and 30 years in prison.

Wheaton is scheduled to go on trial in the case July 21st.
