Man Accused in Three Hit-and-Run Accidents Makes Court Appearance
A Galesburg man accused of causing at least three accidents earlier this month has had a date in court in the case. 23-year old Garren Cook was to be in Knox County Circuit Court yesterday for a preliminary hearing, but he instead decided to waive that hearing. Cook was initially arrested on two-counts of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence, another DUI count, and four other traffic offenses. Aside from the traffic offenses, Cook is only formally charged with two felony DUI counts.

Cook allegedly drove into a fence near Pleasant Avenue and North Street June 4th, and after he left the scene, police accuse him of of striking a utility pole at North and Jefferson Streets, and damaging a concrete median near Henderson and Fremont Streets.

Police say Cook fled the scene, but was later found hiding in the closet of his Carl Sandburg Drive apartment. Cook will be arraigned July second.
