Heritage Credit Union Robber Sentenced to Federal Prison

A man who admitted earlier this year he robbed a Galesburg bank and four others is off to federal prison.

56-year old Preston Barham of Moline on Tuesday received 70 months, or nearly 6 years, for the robberies that happened within weeks of one-another in May and June of last year. Barham pleaded guilty to taking over 22-hundred dollars from the Heritage Credit Union in Galesburg on June 1st of last year, and over 22-thousand dollars combined from the other banks he robbed in Peoria, Normal, Rockford and Davenport.

Barham said when he pleaded guilty that he was not armed with a gun when he committed the robberies, and also admitted he used the money he stole from the banks to buy drugs.

Barham will be on parole for three years once he's released from prison.
