Free Fishing Days Friday Through Monday

It's time to break out the poles and tackle boxes for free fishing days.

The four-day event gives Illinois residents who don't have fishing licenses a chance to go fishing for free.

Chris McCloud, spokesman for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, says the annual Free Fishing Days runs Friday through Monday, and it takes a lot of partners to keep the annual event going.

McCloud says Free Fishing Days is a great way to introduce people, especially kids, to the sport of fishing without having to pay the costs associated with fishing.

The fees that are charged for fishing licenses are being waived for the four days.  McCloud says those license fees help keep fishing holes in Illinois stocked.
