City Council Expected to Approve TIFs

Six separate ordinances related to the proposed formation of two Tax Increment Financing Districts in the City of Galesburg may get a final seal of approval Monday night.

After being discussed on first reading two weeks ago, the Galesburg City Council is expected to take final action on the proposed development of the City's fourth and fifth TIF districts.

The designations, primarily for the benefit of development, will be for the area of East Main Street along Interstate 74, and East Main Street in the city's downtown area.

Both area areas, the city says, would benefit substantially from TIF districts.

Aside from other minor matters, the TIF districts are the only major items for Galesburg aldermen to consider, when they meet starting at 7:30 p-m Monday in council chambers at Galesburg City Hall.
