Galesburg School Board Talks Contracts Tonight
A pair of contracts will be up for discussion when the Galesburg School Board meets tonight. The District-205 Board of Education tonight is expected to vote to approve a renewed contract with Bridgeway, to provide the services for its Insight substance abuse and treatment program, but with an increased cost to the district.

District-205 officials say based on usage of the program during the 2007-2008 school year that provides the services to students with a first-time offense under the district's zero tolerance policy, the cost will be one-hundred dollars for substance evaluation and screening instead of 75 dollars, and 25 dollars per hour for an early intervention seminar versus 25 dollars per two-and-a-half hours.

Board members will also consider a new contract with employees of the District's Food Service program. The district says the tentative deal with Local 73 of the Service Employees International Union calls for some contract wording changes, and what the district says is "significant restructuring of future employees' base pay." The contract would take effect July First and run through 2012.

Those and other items will be discussed when the District-205 school board meets at seven o'clock tonight in the district's headquarters at Lincoln School.
