Bond Set in Child Sexual Assault Case
A Galesburg man must post $10,000 cash if he wants to get out of jail on a felony sex charge.

$100,000 was the bond set by Knox County Circuit Court Judge Steven Bordner in the case of 33-year old William Mazurek. Mazurek was arrested Friday on a Class-X Felony charge of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child.

He, a nine-year-old girl, and some other friends and family members were camping at the Allison Lake Storey Campground a week ago when, Galesburg Police say, Mazurek picked the girl up while she was sleeping, covered her mouth, and took her to a women's restroom at the campground, where he forced her to perform a sexual act on him. Mazurek, whom police reports indicate had been drinking, allegedly fondled the girl and performed a sexual act on him.

Mazurek will next be in court Friday morning at 11 am, for an appearance with the Knox County Public Defender.
